World Environment Month 2025: Discussion on #BeatPlasticPollution
On 14 June 2025, a special session was organized to commemorate World Environment Month, focusing on the theme #BeatPlasticPollution. The virtual program brought together scientists, environmental experts, policymakers, and changemakers from across the country for a powerful dialogue on the urgency of reducing plastic use and adopting sustainable practices.
Hosted by ISCOS, NEERI, Forest Watch, LiFE Mission, and other notable organizations, the session emphasized the global call issued by UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) to eliminate plastic pollution through education, awareness, and collective responsibility.

Sharma, Former Chief Scientist (CSIR-IITR), Dr. Arvind Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor, BBAU, Dr. R.B. Singh, Scientist, CPCB (Govt. of India), Dr. Ranjeet Kumar, (Media Expert), Dr. Tariq Badar, Senior Faculty, (ISCOS), Dr. Kavyanjali Shukla, Founder of Together Foundation, served as moderator
Among the invited guests, Ayush Mohapatra, a recognized International Artist & Social Changemaker, joined the session representing the Ayush Art Foundation. His presence highlighted the intersection of art and environmental advocacy, aligning with the foundation's mission to spread awareness through creativity and education.
The session covered key insights on the UNEP campaign encouraging individuals to refuse, reduce, reuse, and rethink plastic consumption. The global celebration of World Environment Day 2025 is being hosted by the Republic of Korea, further reinforcing the need for global cooperation to combat plastic pollution.
